The EHLP Program
Program details and online application for the Emergency Homeowners' Loan Program
The Emergency Homeowners' Loan Program (EHLP) is for homeowners
who are unemployed or have a reduced income and are in imminent danger of being
foreclosed on. If approved, the EHLP assistance provides homeowners with government
mortgage payment assistance that:
- Pays 100% of the eligible past due arrearages in order to bring the mortgage payments
current and avoid foreclosure
- Reduces the monthly mortgage payment to 31% of the homeowner's monthly income
Approved homeowners will receive 24 months up to a maximum of $50,000 in mortgage
payment assistance. As long as the homeowner stays current on their payments over
the next 5 years and meets other program requirements, then they do not have to
repay the financial aid received. The deadline to apply is September 15, 2011
and you can find out if you are eligible and apply directly through this website
right now.
